About Us

I’m Stephan Tanner, a US-Swiss architect passionate about creating beautiful, energy-efficient buildings. To bring my visions to life, I've had to seek out the highest-performing products from around the world.

I’ve been involved in sustainable design for more than 30 years – in Europe and in North America – as an architect, as an owner, as someone who’s passionate about creating highly-efficient buildings.

When you bring such buildings to life – buildings that surpass North American sustainable design standards and achieve world-class certifications such as the German Passive House Standard – you need superior high-performance products. Since these innovative products are not available in the US, I continue to receive requests from visionary owners and building colleagues who want more information about these products and how to design, purchase and install them.

As such, I have the enjoyment and the shared love for the excitement of tackling complex building projects with my sons, Robert, principal of our Tanner Windows and Building Products, and Seth a passionate leader of our high-performance construction and installation team. Together, we translate complex building challenges into stunning architectural structures, along with our many partners and friends.

Take my business partner, Klaus Müller and his team in Germany, for example. They are one of our links to superior-quality, European-made products. I met Klaus in 2004 while searching for an expert to build the windows and doors for my design of the first certified Passive House in North America – das Bio Haus at Concordia Colleges Language Villages. After building the Bio Haus, I received calls from other like-minded people asking me where and how this came about, so I asked my son Robert help them out. It was then we knew we had to share these exciting new, high-performance building technology products with the North American construction market.

That's why I've helped bring this extraordinary vision to North America and why I'm excited to share the possibilities of the Tanner Circle with Tanner Windows & Doors, Tanner Building Products and Tanner Construction with you for your next projects.

I’m Seth Tanner, founder of the Tanner Construction in 2014. Whether it’s building for residential owners or serving as a general contractor on high-performance projects, I take pride in precision in all we do.

Which is why we don’t take on all projects. Only those where an owner or contractor is as committed to quality, performance, and a beautiful building as much as I am. I thrive on collaborating with like-minded partners in these ways.

Working on projects with my father, Stephan and my brother, Robert, I share the love and the excitement of tackling complex building projects.

I love rolling up my sleeves, diving into the details of a challenging, high-performance installation in unique construction sites, then pushing through to deliver awe-inspiring results.
